The time for the electronic health record is now! Are you ready?
An initiative known as TIGER, Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform, has been diligently working to create action plans and technology education to equip healthcare professionals and citizens with the information necessary for preparation and acceptance of the electronic health record.
The TIGER Initiative is separated into three different phases. Phase I, which occurred in 2006, engaged stakeholders to create a common vision for the future at an invitation only summit. Phase II, 2007-2009, facilitated collaboration among participants to define how the vision would be achieved. Currently, Phase III is a call to action to our leaders, organizations, and healthcare professionals to implement and integrate the TIGER recommendations. The overall goal of TIGER is to enable healthcare professionals to use informatics to provide safer, more efficient, higher-quality care for all patients.
