Follow these tips: Shop once or twice a week. This will limit impulse buys and also save you time and the cost of gas. If you’re taking your kids, feed them a light nutritious snack before leaving home so they (and you) don’t get tempted by less nourishing snacks and store samples. Good options are: peanut butter on apple slices or sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on hot popcorn. You can even take the popcorn in the car! If the store is out of a special, ask for a rain check. And lastly, pay attention at the checkout. Confirm that the prices you’re charged match the sale price advertised or the price on the shelf.
