No Sugar Added?

by Roberta Duyff, MS RD FADA

No Sugar Added? Have you ever wondered why a food with "no sugar added" shows grams of sugar on the Nutrition Facts? Fruits, vegetables, milk, grains and legumes have naturally occurring sugars. "Sugars" in the Nutrition Facts include added and naturally occurring sugars. There's no DV for sugars because there's no recommendation. To find out about added sugars, check the ingredient list.
