Locate an RD Medicare MNT Provider

Beginning January 1, 2002, Medicare beneficiaries with diabetes or non-dialysis kidney disease can receive medical nutrition therapy (MNT) provided by a registered dietitian (RD).

Many Medicare carriers have expanded their online Medicare Participating Physician/Supplier Directory(MEDPARD), and "Find a doctor" to include not only physicians, but other healthcare practitioners including "registered dietitian", "dietitian", and/or "nutrition professional." These carrier Web sites list individual Medicare RD providers by state/county and include the RD’s name, practice address, phone and/or fax number.

  • Click on the state Medicare carrier Web site listed below,
  • Scroll down the list of health care practitioners or speciality to find "dietitian" or "registered dietitian" or "nutrition professional",
  • Select the desired county. (If the option is available, leave the county designation blank and a complete listing of RD Medicare providers in that state will appear.)

Note: Of the 56 Medicare carriers, more than half include Medicare Registered Dietitian providers in their MEDPARD directories. Some carrier Web sites do not currently provide online directories for Medicare RD providers.  Coming Soon! Search ADA's online "Find a Nutrition Professional" for RD Medicare providers.
