CHICAGO -- The American Dietetic Association, the nation's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals, announced today that it will relocate its headquarters in downtown Chicago to 120 South Riverside Plaza effective March 1, 2003.
"Chicago is the top location for health-care and related organizations in the United States," said Chief Executive Officer Ronald S. Moen. "Though we needed new space, we were committed to remaining in downtown Chicago, which has many key advantages for a national association, including its central geographic location, availability of skilled and experienced personnel for staff positions, outstanding air service to anywhere in the world and the many resources of a major metropolitan area. Chicago has been ADA's home for its entire 85-year history."
Since 1988, ADA and its related organizations, the American Dietetic Association Foundation, the Commission on Dietetic Registration and the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education have leased approximately 40,000 square feet on three floors at 216 W. Jackson Boulevard. At the new location, ADA will lease approximately 36,000 square feet on one floor.
"ADA's members and staff will benefit from this relocation," said Moen. "Having all employees on one floor will help improve operating efficiency and there are better meeting facilities for member committee and board meetings."
ADA employs about 130 people in Chicago and eight in Washington, D.C. The Association has nearly 70,000 members.
As of March 1, ADA's mailing address will be:
American Dietetic Association
120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000
Chicago, Ill. 60606-6995
ADA's phone number and e-mail address will remain unchanged.
The American Dietetic Association serves the public by promoting nutrition, health and well-being. Visit ADA at www.eatright.org.
