Four dietetics professionals named American Dietetic Association media spokespeople

CHICAGO -- The American Dietetic Association announces the appointment of four dietetics professionals as news media spokespeople for the Association. ADA's nationwide volunteer spokesperson network consists of more than two dozen registered dietitians, from all parts of the country, who live and work in the country's largest media markets.
ADA's new spokespeople are:
Chicago: Dawn Jackson, RD, LD
Jackson is an exercise specialist at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Wellness
Institute. In addition to providing nutrition counseling to hospital patients,
Jackson develops and presents community and corporate wellness programs and
screenings and educates dietetic interns, medical students and physicians on
the role of nutrition and fitness in patient care. She is a specialist in holistic
medical nutrition therapy for disease prevention and management, sports nutrition,
obesity, nutrition supplements, vegetarianism and natural/whole foods.
Minneapolis: Susan Moores, MS, RD
Moores is a food and nutrition consultant and writer. She has published articles
in numerous magazines and newspapers as well as on health-related Web sites.
Moores has been a contributing editor and health columnist for Minnesota Parent
magazine and a clinical nutritionist at Minneapolis/St. Paul area hospitals.
She has also worked in community outreach, corporate, government and nonprofit
settings. Moores is a specialist in health and wellness promotion as well as
children's and geriatric nutrition.
New York City: Julie Walsh, MS, RD
Walsh is a writer and communications consultant whose articles have appeared
in many national newspapers and magazines. She has developed health and nutrition
content for the Web site Phys.com, developed corporate communications programs
and worked as a nutritionist for Weight Watchers International. Walsh's areas
of expertise include sports nutrition, functional foods and infant/maternal
nutrition.
Washington, D.C.: Katherine Tallmadge, MA, RD, LD
Tallmadge is the owner of a nutrition counseling firm and author of a popular
book and Web site on healthful weight loss. She is a contributing author to
consumer and health-care industry publications and has worked as a correspondent
for the Food Network. In addition to healthful weight loss, Tallmadge is a specialist
in the development of healthful eating habits, especially among children and
families.
