Baltimore-Area Dietitian Named National Spokesperson for American Dietetic Association

CHICAGO -- Registered dietitian Roxanne E. Moore, a resident of Abingdon, Md., has been named a media spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, the nation's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals.
Moore joins ADA's national, volunteer network of 29 experts who communicate the importance of sound nutrition to the public. Headquartered in Chicago, the 70,000-member ADA serves the public by promoting optimal health, nutrition and well-being. Its media spokesperson program began in 1982.
During her three-year term as an ADA spokesperson, Moore will provide expert commentary for print and broadcast news stories on health and nutrition topics, as well as ADA's official positions, educational campaigns and public policy initiatives.
Moore is a specialist in cardiac rehabilitation and disease prevention, sports nutrition for children, adolescents and adults, and weight management. Moore completed the coordinated undergraduate program in dietetics at Hood College and received her master's degree in health education and administration from Towson University.
For the past four years, Moore has been cardiovascular and rehabilitation outpatient dietitian and coordinator of nutrition education at St. Joseph Medical Center, Towson, where she developed a nutrition education program for the community and hospital employees. Previously, Moore was renal and outpatient dietitian for three years at Maryland General Hospital, Baltimore. In her private practice, Moore consults with managed care organizations, private physicians, athletic clubs and other organizations on menu development and nutrition analysis.
