American Dietetic Association Names 2004-05 Board of Directors

CHICAGO - Eighteen national leaders in the fields of food, nutrition and public health will guide the American Dietetic Association as ADA’s 2004-05 Board of Directors. The board, which takes office June 1 and will serve until May 31, 2005, is responsible for strategic planning, policy development and fiscal management for the Chicago-based ADA.

With nearly 70,000 members, ADA is the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. ADA promotes optimal nutrition and well-being for all people. Visit ADA at www.eatright.org.

  • Susan H. Laramee, MS, RD, LDN, FADA, Rockport, Mass., ADA President
    Laramee is director of professional relations at Sodexho Health Care Services.
  • Ethan A. Bergman, PhD, RD, CD, FADA, Ellensburg, Wash., House of Delegates Director
    Bergman is associate dean in the College of Education and Professional Studies and professor of food science and human nutrition at Central Washington University. 
  • Margaret Bogle, PhD, RD, LD, Little Rock, Ark., ADA Foundation Chair
    Bogle is executive director of the Lower Mississippi Delta Nutrition Intervention Initiative, a research project funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
  • Sonja L. Connor, MS, RD, LD, Portland, Ore., Speaker-elect, House of Delegates
    Connor is research associate professor of medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. 
  • Connie Diekman, MEd, RD, LD, FADA, St. Louis, Mo., Director
    Diekman is director of university nutrition at Washington University in St. Louis.
  • Marianne Smith Edge, MS, RD, LD, FADA, Owensboro, Ky., Past President
    Edge is president and chief executive officer of MSE & Associates, a management consulting firm that provides services to the food and health-care industries.
  • Chester R. England III, Miami, Fla., Public Member
    England is senior director for product safety and regulatory and chief food safety officer at Burger King Corp.
  • Cecilia P. Fileti, MS, RD, FADA, Ann Arbor, Mich., Director
    Fileti is president of C.P. Fileti Associates, Inc., a private firm with focus on health communications and regulatory response.
  • Beth L. Leonberg, MS, RD, CSP, FADA, Washington Crossing, Pa., Director
    Leonberg is vice president of nutrition services at Sodexho Health Care Services.
  • B. Thomas Malone Jr., MS, RD, LD, San Antonio, Texas, Treasurer
    Malone is supervisory dietitian and chief of the foodservice section at South Texas Veterans Healthcare System.
  • Kathleen Niedert, MBA, RD, LD, FADA, Hudson, Iowa, Director
    Niedert is a writer, public speaker and nutrition consultant to extended care facilities, physicians, home health-care providers and private industry.
  • Monica Phillips Penkilo, MPH, RD, LD, Tyler, Texas, Director
    Penkilo is a diabetes program coordinator at the University of Texas Health Center - Tyler.
  • Penny Ralston, Tallahassee, Fla., Public Member
    Ralston is professor and dean of the College of Human Sciences at Florida State University.
  • Rebecca S. Reeves, DrPh, RD, FADA, Houston, Texas, President-elect
    Reeves is assistant professor of medicine and managing director of the Behavioral Medicine Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine.
  • Nancy P. Siler, MS, RD, LD, CFCS, Woodridge, Ill., Director
    Siler is vice-president of consumer affairs and public relations at Wilton Enterprises Inc., a designer and manufacturer of kitchen and bakeware and cake decorating products.
  • Martin M. Yadrick, MS, MBA, RD, FADA, Los Angeles, Calif., Treasurer-elect
    Yadrick is marketing manager for Computrition Inc., a provider of integrated software solutions for the health-care and hospitality industries.
  • Melinda Zook-Weaver, MS, RD, LD, Blacksville, W.V., Speaker of the House of Delegates
    Zook-Weaver is clinical nutrition manager at Monongalia General Hospital and adjunct clinical instructor at West Virginia University.
  • Ronald S. Moen, Chicago, Ill., ADA Chief Executive Officer
    Moen manages ADA’s headquarters operations in Chicago and in Washington, D.C., and provides leadership for ADA’s members.
