Nine Registered Dietitians Named 2005-08 American Dietetic Association Media Spokespeople

CHICAGO - The American Dietetic Association announces the appointment of nine registered dietitians from throughout the country as news media spokespeople for ADA and the reappointment of four current spokespeople.
ADA’s nationwide volunteer spokesperson network consists of 30 registered dietitians from all parts of the country who conduct more than 2,000 print, broadcast and electronic media interviews each year. The American Dietetic Association’s new 2005-08 spokespeople are:
- Suzanne Farrell, MS, RD, Denver, Colo.
Farrell is the owner of Cherry Creek Nutrition Inc., providing out-patient counseling and corporate lectures. Her areas of specialty include weight management for adults and children, cardiovascular nutrition, diabetes, hypertension and sports nutrition. - Ruth Frechman, MA, RD, Los Angeles, Calif.
Frechman is the president of On the Weigh, a nutrition therapy and weight-control center. Her areas of specialty include weight management for adults and children, osteoporosis, elderly nutrition, cardiovascular nutrition and food safety. - Andrea Giancoli, MPH, RD, Los Angeles, Calif.
Giancoli is a nutrition consultant and educator. Her areas of expertise include healthy food demonstrations, sports nutrition, obesity, nutrition policy and school nutrition. - Keecha Harris, DrPH, RD, LD, Birmingham, Ala. (African-American nutrition specialist)
Harris is the president of Harris and Associates, a nutrition consulting firm. Her areas of specialty include food policy and systems, rural nutrition and maternal/child nutrition. - Amy Jamieson-Petonic, MEd, RD, LD, LMT, Cleveland, Ohio
Jamieson-Petonic is the health education manager of the Fairview Hospital Wellness Center. Her areas of expertise include sports nutrition, wellness and weight management for adults and children. - Lalita Kaul, PhD, RD, LDN, Washington, D.C.
Kaul is a professor of community health and family practice at Howard University College of Medicine. Her areas of specialty include obesity, cardiovascular nutrition, hyperlipidemia, vegetarianism and elderly nutrition. - Malena Perdomo, RD, Denver, Colo. (Latino nutrition specialist)
Perdomo is an outpatient clinical dietitian at Kaiser Permanente Colorado Clinica de la Familia in Denver and a consultant and translator for the Tennessee Department of Health - Nutrition Services and the Colorado Department of Nutrition Services. Her areas of expertise include diabetes, cardiovascular nutrition, children’s and prenatal nutrition, obesity and Latin American foods. - D. Milton Stokes, RD, New York City, N.Y.
Stokes is the clinical nutrition manager for Sodexho Health Services at St. Barnabas Hospital. His areas of expertise include food and nutrition management and operations, weight management, public health, men’s health and healthy cooking. - Bethany Thayer, MS, RD, Detroit, Mich.
Thayer is a customer segment coordinator for Health Alliance Plan, a subsidiary of Henry Ford Health System. Her areas of specialty include cardiovascular nutrition, diabetes, healthy cooking techniques, obesity and children’s nutrition.
