CHICAGO – The American Dietetic Association, the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals, announced today that the National Dairy Council, the non-profit nutrition education arm of Dairy Management Inc. and the leader in dairy nutrition research, education and communication, has agreed to become an ADA Partner. The ADA Partner level in the Association’s new corporate relations sponsorship structure provides a national platform via ADA events and programs with prominent access to key influencers, thought leaders and decision-makers in the food and nutrition marketplace.

NDC and ADA have a long-term working relationship. Since its launch in 2003, ADA along with other health organizations have supported NDC’s 3-A-Day of Dairy campaign, which educates consumers and health professionals about the nutrition and health benefits of consuming three servings of fat-free or low-fat milk, cheese and yogurt a day. According to USDA, only 19 percent of Americans meet the Dietary Guidelines recommendation of three servings of dairy per day.

“National Dairy Council is pleased to continue its partnership with the American Dietetic Association and our shared historic commitment to nutrition education,” said Jean Ragalie, RD, Executive Vice President of Nutrition Affairs, National Dairy Council. “We are excited to expand our work with the food and nutrition experts at the American Dietetic Association and to provide information to the public, media and health professionals about dairy foods and the crucial role they play in a healthy lifestyle.”

“The American Dietetic Association is pleased to welcome the National Dairy Council as an ADA Partner and looks forward to working together to further ADA’s commitment to lead the future of dietetics,” said ADA President and registered dietitian Judith A. Gilbride. “We are eager to continue to work with the National Dairy Council and together develop opportunities for promoting a healthy today and tomorrow for our children.”
