Research shows that people who keep a food and exercise diary are often more successful at weight management than those who don’t keep track of what they eat. Your diary doesn’t need to be fancy - any notebook, journal or pad of paper will do.
Among the benefits of a food diary, it offers you a way to identify areas of your eating plan you might need to change. It also can help you focus on your weight goals, and think twice before indulging in a high-fat snack when you aren’t hungry.
Consider sharing your diary with a registered dietitian for additional help managing your weight.
