What related experience and skills have you obtained to prepare you to be an ADA leader?
I have been fortunate to hold jobs and volunteer positions that have facilitated leadership development.  A "big picture" personality preference and a clear vision of the future have given me the courage to tackle difficult challenges and turn them into opportunities.  Each of my experiences has given me confidence, and I have been mentored by many outstanding, progressive leaders. I am fully prepared for the next level of responsibility within ADA.

What do you perceive as an important issue impacting the dietetics profession today?
Member discouragement is a big concern. We need to engage new members and non-members in different ways than in the past.  Unless our own current and potential members are excited about their profession, why would others be interested in what we have to say?  Marketing within the profession, and externally to our key stakeholders, is a top priority at this time for our Association leaders and members.

How would you encourage and promote diversity if elected? Diversity in personal opinions and values is greater today than ever before.  By listening carefully to our members, to young people, and to the changes in the world around us, we must be more sensitive to those needs and expectations.  Strategically identifying common themes and  interests of members is important, but our final actions must speak louder than our words. We must engage every ADA member in individual and common goals.
