What related experience and skills have you obtained to prepare you to be an ADA leader?
I have been an active member in dietetic associations most of my career, serving as district officers and president, state officers and president, and most recently serving on the board and as chair of the Consultant Dietitians in Health Care Facilities practice group.  My involvement with dietitians in Indiana and across the country at the national level has strengthened my skills as a team leader, negotiator, motivator, and mentor.

What do you perceive as an important issue impacting the dietetics profession today?
As health care continues to  face the challenges of  economics and regulatory involvement, dietitians must be the industry leaders in food service and nutrition to advance the health care system for all citizens.  As nutrition interest grows, dietitians need to be the professionals to whom the public consults for accurate and correct nutrition answers.

How would you encourage and promote diversity if elected? I would readily seek and encourage the ideas and opinions of all members at all levels of ADA, particularly the  members who are at the grass roots' of the association. Our members have such a rich diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.  I would use their experiences to further develop and enhance the goals and policies of the ADA.
