What related experience and skills have you obtained to prepare you to be an ADA leader?
I have served the American Dietetic Association in leadership roles for over fifteen years. Most recently I have served as the Chair, CDR, as a member of the ADA BOD and as a representative in the HOD. I have also served as a US Army Reserve Officer for over thirteen years.
What do you perceive as an important issue impacting the dietetics profession today?
In an effort to explore the breadth of our profession and encompass all the diversity within our profession we may have lost sight of our common core of skill sets. These common elements help to define our products and services to our consumers. Without a common link between our members within the diversity of the practice areas it is difficult to be recognized as the experts in our field.
How would you encourage and promote diversity if elected? I would continue to support the HLT as it implements the outcomes from the HOD addressing our diversity within our membership through outreach programs. I would continue to support the Nominations Committee in their efforts to present a national ballot which parallels membership representation. Lastly, I would continue to support the initiative to develop career laddering opportunities within our profession to encourage and entice the non-traditional student.
