Meeting the Nutritional Needs of the Older Adult

Meeting the Nutritional Needs of the Older Adult

July 16, 2004

Our nutritional needs change with age. How can you tell if you’re keeping up with your body’s needs?

Ask yourself these questions. Do I:

  • have an illness or condition that has changed the kind or amount of food I eat?
  • eat fewer than two meals a day?
  • eat few fruits, vegetables or milk products?
  • have tooth or mouth problems that make it difficult for me to eat?
  • eat alone most of the time?

If you answered yes to most questions, your risk for poor nutrition is high and a visit with a dietetics professional would be a good idea.
