At the Year’s Midpoint, a New Year’s Resolution Check-Up

June 22, 2004

At the mid-point of the year, now is a good time to check in on the progress of your New Year’s resolutions.

Progress, you say. What progress? That’s a common reaction. New Year’s resolutions may start out as a good ideas, but with time too many fade away to memories of good intentions.

It doesn’t have to be that way. Treat this time of year as New Year’s Part II. You can develop a plan for long-term health and fitness that starts with small daily changes. For the remainder of the year, and beyond, resolve to…

  • Set achievable goals
  • Aim for improved health
  • Keep track of your efforts by using food and exercise logs
  • Include plans to reward yourself when you accomplish a goal.

Talk to your physician about starting a fitness plan and to a dietetics professional about a nutrition plan that is right for you.
