Meet You for Lunch at the Fair
June 15, 2005
Nearly every city and town holds summer fairs, street festivals and other community outdoor events where a big part of the fun is sampling the local cuisine. And while the most popular food items may be something fried, you can have a great time at a summer fair and eat healthfully, too.
The key to healthy eating at a summer festival is planning:
- Wander around the entire festival area and check out all food options before deciding which ones to buy.
- When possible, choose small portions.
- Put all your food on one plate so you can see how much you’re actually eating.
- Have a seat! Sitting down helps you eat slowly and enjoy your food choices.
