All ten years should be completed late this year, allowing members, researchers and students to do comprehensive searches by issue, author and topic.
• Wanted: professional dietetic reference section authors…ADA is seeking qualified content authors. The professional dietetic online reference work is planned for use as a nutrition resource for clinical and private practice. The dietetic reference work supports evidence-based dietetics practice and will be offered to a broad range of customers via the Internet. For more information visit www.eatright.org/catalog/callforauthors.html.
And the awards go to…your Association! I am very pleased to announce that ADA has been recognized recently with the following coveted awards…
• ADA's 2002 Annual Report has won the 2003 Silver ASTRID Award… The International Academy of Communications Arts & Sciences presents this award every year to honor outstanding achievement in design communications that symbolizes stellar qualities in creativity, content and originality. The competition received nearly 400 entries from countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. This award is further confirmation of ADA's ongoing commitment to creative excellence in member and public communications. • The 2003 Associations Advance America Honor Roll…With this honor program, now in its 13th year, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) recognizes associations that propel America forward with innovative projects in education, skills training, standards-setting, business and social innovation, knowledge creation, citizenship and community services. ADA programs on the honor roll this year…
- Ethics Opinion Program…The implementation of the Ethics Opinion was intended to provide interpretation or application of the ADA Code of Ethics and to serve as an educational guide for dietetics practitioners. The process was another commitment by ADA to provide practitioners with a Code that was not merely aspirational or punitive but also educational. Development of an Ethics Opinion involves more than the ADA Ethics Committee. The development phase includes an author, selected reviewers, input by the Board of Directors, House Leadership Team (on behalf of the House of Delegates), Commission on Dietetic Registration and credentialed practitioners (both members and non-members).
- Daily News…Every day ADA delivers the day's top food, nutrition and health headlines via e-mail to members. Produced by ADA's Knowledge Center Team, the Daily News was cited as an example of how associations play a vital role in helping the nation adapt to complex and changing times. If you not already receiving this free service via e-mail, you can subscribe to it by visiting www.eatright.com/members/discussions/dailynews.html.
- FNCE Food Donation Program…In its 14th year, this program is a collaboration among ADA, the Foundation and exhibiting companies. It has several components: one dollar check-off on the attendee's registration form averaging $2,500 per year; a donation from Foundation dinner attendees; food donation from exhibiting companies averaging 7,500 pounds per year, encouraging hotels to participate in food rescue, and facility educational tours for members.
