Professional Development Committee Report Spring 2006

2006 Leadership Institute

The 2006 Leadership Institute included nearly 250 current and incoming ADA member leaders from state affiliates, DPGs, the House of Delegates, committees, CADE and CDR. An open nomination process for ADA members interested in attending the Institute was utilized for the second year via an online form and resulted in 25 applications for consideration. Representatives from the Professional Development Committee (PDC) and Nominating Committee evaluated the applications.

The Institute featured a new facilitator, Cynthia D’Amour, as well as two new speakers, Jim Sorensen and Gary Shepard. Additionally, Susan Laramee and Jessie Pavlinac presented and facilitated the “Governance” breakout session in order to weave together Knowledge Based Governance and Good to Great concepts. The PDC introduced the “Self as Leader” model on Friday morning in order to encourage a deeper conceptual application during the Institute.

Listen and Learn: Teleseminars

In 2005, the Center for Professional Development offered nine teleseminars which educated over 8,500 dietetics professionals at 1,650 worksites and resulted in $82,775 in total revenue.
