Petition Process for Ballot

The following process is used to add a candidate to the ballot by petition:

  1. Nominations for all national ballot positions except Commission on Dietetic Registration may be made by nomination petitions signed by no less than five hundred (500) voting members of the Association, of whom not more than fifty (50) shall be from any one affiliated dietetic association or dietetic practice group, assented to in writing by the person or persons named thereon as nominee(s).

  2. Nominations for members of the Commission on Dietetic Registration shall be made by nomination petitions signed by no less than five hundred (500) Registered Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians Registered, of whom not more than fifty (50) shall be from any one affiliated dietetic association or dietetic practice group, assented to in writing by the person or persons named thereon as nominee(s).

  3. The person or persons named thereon as nominee(s) must meet the qualifications for office established by the Nominating Committee (www.eatright.org/qualifications).

  4. The Biographical Information Form and nominee’s picture must be included with the petition.

  5. These petitions shall be filed with the Nominating Committee Chair (nominations@eatrihgt.org). 

  6. In the event that any nominations are made by petitions the ballot shall so indicate.

Members may petition to nominate candidates not listed in the published slate. E-mail nominations@eatright.org for information. Petitions must be received by November 29, 2007.
