Association Positions Committee (APC)

Association Positions Committee

The Association Positions Committee consists of no more than seven members of the Association. The committee oversees the development process for new positions and regularly reviews and updates existing ADA positions.

ADA defines a position as "a statement of the Association's stance on an issue which impacts the nutritional status of the public, is derived from pertinent facts and data, and is germane to the mission, vision, philosophy, and values of the Association."

The committee also oversees the development of practice papers. Practice papers are evaluative summaries of scientific and/or evidence-based information that address member-identified practice topics. They are meant to provide key opportunities for critical reasoning and quality improvement in dietetics practice and to include peer-reviewed perspectives from content experts, employers, and alliance groups of the American Dietetic Association.
