Professional Issues Delegates
Part I: Qualifications
- Member of the ADA in the Active classification.
- Demonstrated leadership in professional issues of the Association.
- Demonstrated ability to network and communicate with one's peers and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to represent members' issues.
- Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration preferred.
For Education Delegate
- Demonstrated experience in one or more educational programs.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Member of Dietetic Educators of Practitioners or Nutrition Education of Health Professions DPG preferred.
For Practice Delegate (Clinical Nutrition; Community; Consultation and Business Practice; Education; Food and Nutrition Management; and Research)
- Demonstrated leadership in area of practice that the delegate represents.
For Research Delegate
- Demonstrated experience in conducting research for a minimum of five (5) years.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Evidence of publication in peer reviewed journals in the past three to five years.
- Member of the Nutrition Research DPG preferred.
Part II: Requirements
- Professional Issues Delegates (PIDs) serves a three (3) year term.
- Time. The PIDs position requires a time commitment of approximately ten (10) days each year for meetings and travel. Time is required for conference calls, correspondence, planning, writing reports, etc. Employer support in advance is encouraged.

Specific to Professional Issues Delegates
- Expertise in practice area.

Part IV: Functions
- Serves as a member of the House of Delegates.
- Participates in HOD activities to identify and prioritize trends in the profession.
- Participates in HOD and BOD committees and task forces as assigned.
- Performs functions, as needed, to assist in facilitating the work of the House.
- Networks and reflects the issues of the area of practice represented.
- Serves as a technical expert on practice, education and research for other delegates.
- Identify and propose to the HOD initiatives in dietetics research, education and practice.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Speaker.
- Encourages and promotes diversity and inclusivity.
