Meetings

The Scope of Dietetics Practice Framework (SODPF) Sub-Committee met via teleconference in December 2007, and January and April 2008. Meeting discussion included definitions approval and program of work activities.

Program of Work Accomplishments

  • Received acceptance for the following two sessions at FNCE 2008: “Scope of Dietetics Practice Framework: From Theory to Practice” and “Application of the New Nutrition Support Standards for Dietitians for the SODPF”.
  • Revised and updated Case studies on the Web site.
  • Conducted a call for case study authors as sent to DPG leaders; received minimal response; will continue to solicit for case study authors.
  • Aligned the SODPF Web site to the Framework three blocks making for user-friendly improvement.
  • Provided assistance with Framework related articles published in Winter 2007 On The Cutting Edge, the newsletter for the Diabetes Care and Education Practice Group.
  • Continued to process requests for definition additions, deletions, and edits. Results: one term was retired, 8 terms are in the process of being updated, and three new terms are under consideration. Extensive deliberations regarding the term “generalist” has occurred with input from the Quality Management Committee; a final definition will be submitted to the House Leadership Team for approval in late spring 2008.
  • Established a plan for periodic review and update of the definition of terms. Related terms will be reviewed minimally every five years with originating organizational units providing input.
  • Approved additional charge for the 2008-09 year and beyond of practice specific SOP and SOPP development and maintenance oversight. Responsibility transition from the Quality Management Committee to the SODPF Sub-committee has been initiated.
