Professional Development Committee Report Fall 2006

2007 Leadership Institute
The 2007 Leadership Institute will be held June 7 to10 in San Diego, California at the Hyatt Regency Islandia Hotel & Marina. Approximately 250 current and incoming ADA member leaders from state affiliates, DPGs, the House of Delegates, committees, CADE and CDR will be invited to attend. An open nomination process for ADA members interested in attending the Institute will be utilized for the third year via an online application form. Representatives from the PDC and Nominating Committee will work collaboratively to evaluate the applications.

The Institute will feature Facilitator, Cynthia D’Amour, as well as keynote speaker Jim Sorensen speaking on "Fierce Conversations."  Additionally, Gervase Bushe will speak on "Appreciative Inquiry and Clear Leadership" and Mark Levin will speak on "Teamwork and Volunteerism" at an afternoon breakout session as well as "the Gift of Leadership" during the Sunday morning keynote. ADA staff and the PDC are currently reviewing a variety of leadership books for the pre-assigned reading. Also, the PDC will introduce the “Self as Leader” model in order to encourage a deeper conceptual application during the Institute. Additional speakers and content are also in development for this program.
