The 2007 Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo Program Planning Advisory Committee (FNCE PPAC) met October 26 to 28, 2006 to review FNCE 2007 dietetic practice group (DPG) and general educational session proposals. A total of 169 proposals were submitted for educational session consideration. Of those 169 proposals, 26 were submitted as DPG priority sessions and 143 were general educational sessions. All 29 DPGs submitted sessions for the program including some joint session planning. The FNCE PPAC will plan additional sessions in order to ensure previously identified member learning needs are met. Additional educational sessions are being prepared by various parts of the Association. These include: ADA Foundation Symposium, Research Symposium, Commission on Dietetic Registration and Student Council. Speakers have been identified for the following featured sessions at FNCE 2007: ADA Staff is working on securing the speaker for the 2007 Presidents’ Lecture. The topic is Health Promotion & Disease Prevention with a focus on Health Disparities. The 2007 Lenna Frances Cooper Memorial Lecture will be presented by Mary Kimbrough, RD, LD. Four pre-FNCE workshops are being planned for Saturday, September 29, 2007. The topics for these workshops are currently under advisement by ADA staff and the FNCE PPAC. For the first time, the 2007 FNCE Call for Abstracts will be online for both submission and review. The FNCE PPAC, designated reviewers and Research Committee will work collaboratively on reviewing the submissions from the 2007 Call for Abstracts, which will close on Tuesday, February 28, 2007.
