Diversity Committee Report Fall 2006

Since the beginning of the fiscal year, the Diversity Committee met three times.

Activities thus far this year have included:

  • Working at the Diversity Committee Booth at FNCE. Visitors at the booth learned about the Committee’s initiatives including mentoring, the promotion grant and the action award. Visitors also learned about the information that can be found about diversity on ADA’s website including the multicultural resource list and the mentoring toolkit.
  • Hosting a Diversity Committee Award and Networking Dessert Reception which was attended by more than 25 ADA leaders, networking group representatives and others. Representatives of Sinclair Community College and Northeast Valley Health Corporation were there to accept the promotion grant and the action award.
  • Submitting a proposal for an education session at FNCE 2007 entitled: Liberating Health Disparities: Implications for Dietetics Education, Research, and Practice

The Diversity Committee is now focused on measuring the results of the goals and tactics of previous years in order to better understand what ADA has done and is doing with regard to diversity. From there, the Committee will formulate some strategic long term goals for the Diversity Committee and ADA.
