FCP is committed to developing culinary expertise by increasing food knowledge and culinary skills and enhancing the ability to shape food choices that impact nutritional status, health and quality of life.
The activities of this practice group will support the mission of ADA by improving food education and promoting food quality within the profession and to the public.

Food and Culinary Professionals is a dietetic practice group founded in 1996 to develop food expertise throughout the profession of dietetics by:
- Increasing food and culinary skills and knowledge among ADA members.
- Enhancing our ability to shape the food choices and impact the nutritional status of the public.
- Expanding career opportunities for members.

Our dynamic membership consists of culinary educators, food writers, cookbook authors, chefs, marketing professionals, PR executives, food scientists, media reporters and anyone who loves food!
Newsletter Name and Unique Features
- Tastings is the quarterly newsletter with a food and culinary focus. Features include cooking techniques, educational programs and food communications.
- Web site — complete information on the FCP DPG can be found at: www.foodculinaryprofs.org/. Our website features a member marketplace, educational event calendar, online member directory, as well as information on our grassroots networking events.
- Three separate listservs are available to all members — our regular listserv, supermarket specialty listserv and food safety listserv.
Networking, Business Meetings, Continuing Professional Education Events, Receptions
- Two specialty subgroups & listservs — supermarket and food safety
- FNCE events feature pre and post-conference educational event/tours/dinners, an outstanding networking reception and a business breakfast meeting.
- Teleforums are held several times each year on the latest culinary and food topics. This includes special teleforums for our sub-groups.
- Regional culinary workshops held on different topics in different parts of the USA
- Culinary Educational Tour 2008: Hawaiian Islands
- FLINGS (Food Lovers in Neighborhood Groups) — offer local networking and foodie opportunities to connect local FCP members

- Our Cookbook — The American Dietetic Association Cooking Healthy Across America. Note: Discounts are available for purchases of 10 or more copies through the FCP office.
Friends of the DPG
Any individual who shares FCP's goal of enhancing the food and culinary knowledge and skills of ADA members can become a Friend by making a donation to the DPG of $50 or more. Friends will receive mailings, newsletters, and invitations to educational activities, trips and events sponsored by the DPG. Please contact the DPG office if interested or know someone who might be.
