Here are six steps to help you discuss and obtain professional and financial support from your employer for this excellent opportunity to broaden your skills.
Request and schedule a meeting with your supervisor or director to discuss your interest in attending the 2009 Leadership Institute. Prepare for the meeting by defining your leadership competencies and skills need in your current position.
During the meeting, describe the importance of enhancing your leadership competencies and how participation in the program will strengthen your performance in your organization. Refer to Leadership Institute highlights.
Detail your individual competencies and outline why you should be supported in attending this high level learning event:
- Hear from prestigious speakers focused on leadership development and skills (listed in Program Preview)
- Improve leadership effectiveness in dietetic practice settings through reality-based educational opportunities
- Network and hear from other leaders
- Provide a new opportunity for leadership development and management practices for advanced-level practitioners
Send a thank you note to your employer for their consideration and support.
Apply for consideration of attendance via the Online Application. All attendee applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. (Central) on Wednesday, February 25, 2009.
Upon return from the Leadership Institute, provide a one-page summary of your training and the direct knowledge you intend to apply to enhance your performance, your position and your team.
