General Information on Nutrition Fact Sheets

Dietitians on average consult over 18 patients and consumers per week. Therefore, based on consulting alone, Dietitians reach over 35,000,000 individuals per year!

Nutrition Fact Sheets are two-page, easy-to-read informational handouts focusing on three to four key nutrition-related messages. Key components regarding Nutrition Fact Sheets are:

  • With an average reading level at 6th to 8th grade and targeted nutrition messages, Nutrition Fact Sheets appeal to a wide audience.
  • Healthy eating tips, recipes, charts and other graphics enhance and reinforce fact sheet content.
  • The review, editing and approval process assures members that fact sheet messages are consistent with ADA guidelines.
  • The Journal of the American Dietetic Association insert is a black and white reproducible version and is perforated for easy removal. ADA members keep these to copy and hand out to clients and patients as needed.
  • Each fact sheet includes sponsor's logo, Web site and toll-free consumer number. Nutrition Fact Sheets are available on ADA's web site for at least one year.

The Nutrition Fact Sheet Communications Package also includes:

  • An electronic file of the Nutrition Fact Sheet is provided to the sponsor. The fact sheet may be reproduced in print or on the sponsor's Web site.

The Nutrition Fact Sheet page is consistently one of the top five most visited areas on ADA's web site.
