Issues Management Process

(Approved by HOD April 2001, revised November 2001)

The House of Delegates adopted this process in April 2001. This process is accessible on the ADA member only Web site (www.eatright.org/issues).

Issues Management Process

  1. Issue of concern is identified by any member and forwarded to ADA directly. This can occur via: the Member Service Center, ADA Member Only Web, delegates (year-round open hearings), or via a message to the HOD Governance Staff. To ensure clarity the issue should be submitted in writing.
  2. The HOD Governance Staff will communicate via e-mail or telephone to acknowledge receipt of the issue within two business days.
  3. HOD Governance Staff will forward the issue to the HOD Issues Management Committee for review on a monthly basis. The committee asks the following questions to determine where to move the issue for resolution.
  4. The HOD Issues Management Committee will utilize various approaches in addressing an issue.
  5. The committee notifies the member and/or the delegate(s) of the disposition of the issue and the final outcome. A simple “Satisfaction Survey” is sent for immediate feedback to determine the member’s satisfaction with the process and the response.
  6. The Issues Management Committee tracks the issue and its resolution.

HOD is notified on a quarterly basis of issues and responses via the HOD CoI (Community of Interest).
