50-Year Member Tea — Invitation Only Event
The 50-Year Member Tea celebrates those who have reached the 50-year or more milestone of ADA membership. These women and men have been an instrumental and influential part of the Association and Foundation’s history. Special thanks to Lipton for their generous sponsorship.
ADA Foundation Nutrition Symposium:
The Food Supply as a Catalyst to Healthful Behavior Change: Making Food to Meet Nutritional and Consumer Needs — Presented by the Almond Board of California
The overarching objectives of this four hour session are to: Discuss the role of the food supply in encouraging healthful behavior change, Describe the consumer trends that are driving how and what consumers eat, Outline the emerging nutrition science that has potential to influence the food we eat, Describe the process of food product development and explain how nutrition science can be married with consumer trends to deliver innovative, functional food. Presenters will provide unique insights on how nutrition science is married with consumer trends to lead to new product development and will raise the question: should we be looking to change the food supply as much as we are hoping to change consumer behavior? Attendees will be engaged in an interactive activity to apply the concepts discussed. $15 registration fee. Space is limited. CPE Level 2, CPE Credit 4.0. The sympsoium will take place at McCormick Place West.
ADA Foundation Sweet Home Chicago Gala
Reception: 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Join the Foundation for a legendary evening of gourmet food, spectacular entertainment and dancing taking place in the Imperial Ballroom of theFairmont Chicago. Semi-formal attire is acceptable. Tickets for the gourmet dinner are $175 ($50 tax-deductible donation), Non-Profit Table: $1,750 ($500 tax-deductible donation), Corporate Tables: 3,000 ($1,750 tax deductible donation). Space is limited. Seating requests will only be accepted for those individuals who have purchased tickets by Monday, October 6. Gala After Party — New Event!
9:00-10:30 pm at The Fairmont Chicago, Imperial Ballroom
In addition to this year’s gala, ADAF will host an after party for those wishing to experience the flavor of the evening. Attendees can mingle, dance and get a feel for the evening’s event. Tickets for the gala after party are $50 ($20 tax-deductible donation). Tickets to the ADA Foundation Gala are sold separately.
ADA Foundation Yoga — in Partnership with the Nutrition in Complementary Care DPG
A balance of good nutrition and physical activity is the key to a healthy lifestyle and optimal well-being. Yoga provides many health benefits including reduced stress, enhanced fitness and performance and improved blood pressure. Register on-site at the Foundation Booth. Space will be available on a first-come, first served basis. $5 per session. Attendance is limited. Session wll take place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

The ADA Foundation is the largest provider of scholarships to dietetic students.Attendees will be asked if they would like to add a dollar to their purchase at the bookstore and at the Foundation booth to benefit the ADAF Scholarship Program. All donors will receive a special donor ribbon. This program is a small investment that will go a long way toward helping financially challenged and accomplished students realize their dream of a career in dietetics. Do you want to help get dietetics students involved and excited about the profession and FNCE? Based on the funds collected, the Student Stipend Challenge awards dietetics students, who are ADA members and registered for FNCE, a $100 stipend towards their FNCE expenses. To make a tax deductible donation, please use the check off box via the registration form found on page 52 or contact Beth Labrador at blabrador@eatright.org. Donations of $100 or more will be listed in the Program Book.

- Healthy Schools Partnership: Shrinking Childhood Obesity and Expanding Career Opportunities for Dietitians
In this interactive presentation, learn about the concept of “RD Coaching” in schools, and how the Healthy Schools Partnership program is leading the way to effectively improve students’ nutrition knowledge and eating behaviors. Identify how important nutrition concepts are dovetailed into physical education classes and into other areas of the school environment, led by the nutrition expert—registered dietitians! Understand the theory behind “RD Coaching” and in this presentation, practice your new-found skills. Discover how you can become involved in the Healthy Schools Partnership movement and grow this opportunity to provide students access to “RD Coaching” in schools. International nutrition research experts from the Middle East will participate in a panel discussion about the challenges and success of implementing ADA’s evidence-based diabetes nutrition guidelines and conducting international research despite cultural and political differences. This inaugural international lecture will showcase the personal experiences and adaptations necessary for success and translate the research into counseling techniques for people of similar cultural backgrounds, whether working internationally or domestically.
