Draft Ethics Opinion for Member Review

Background

An Ethics Opinion is defined as "an interpretation or application of the Academy/CDR Code of Ethics for the Profession of Dietetics by the Ethics Committee in response to a specific ethics issue or situation facing dietetics professionals in practice. These opinions will be available to members and credentialed practitioners to serve as an educational guide for their conduct."

The Ethics Committee commissioned the development of an Ethics Opinion entitled "The Impact of Social Media on Business and Ethical Practice in Dietetics." The opinion has been reviewed by selected member reviewers, the Ethics Committee, Academy Board of Directors, House Leadership Team, Commission on Dietetic Registration and Academy legal counsel. Comments from all groups and individuals were discussed and changes made based on input.

Member Input Is Needed

The final draft is now available for members and credentialed practitioners to review and comment by clinking on the link above. All comments will be reviewed and considered by the Ethics Committee at the close of the 60-day comment period for finalizing the document.

All comments on the draft Ethics Opinion may be submitted using Survey Monkey and must be received by the close of business on Thursday, April 25, 2013. The Ethics Opinion will be finalized and published in a future issue of the Journal of the Nutrition and Dietetics.
