Tip of the Day
Kids’ Food Safety
Tis' the season for kids in the kitchen. With special treats and family gatherings, the holidays are the perfect time to teach your child about cooking, nutrition and handling foods safely.
To be safe, cover a few ground rules before getting started in the kitchen with these Home Food Safety educational activities and games perfect for kids:
- Home Food Safety Word Search: Teach your children important food safety terms by seeing how many they can find in the Home Food Safety Word Search.
- Home Food Safety Hand Washing Maze: Have your children help Mike and Lily get to dinner by washing their hands first.
- Food Thermometer Worksheet: Help your children learn how to read a thermometer and identify the safe temperature for certain dishes to avoid food poisoning.
- Cookie Rookie Pledge: Stress that it is never safe to eat mixtures containing raw eggs—even the cookie dough of their favorite holiday cookies. To ensure your kids will keep their fingers out of the batter or cookie dough, have them take the Cookie Rookie Pledge.
