Tip of the Day
Transport Your Holiday Cheer
Reusable grocery totes are a popular, eco-friendly staple in our homes, but some of us use them to transport much more than groceries.
When loading up your holiday presents to bring to friends and family, consider using a laundry basket, leftover boxes or even load up your sled!
Only 15 percent of Americans regularly wash their bags, creating a breeding zone for harmful bacteria, according to a survey by the Home Food Safety program. If you do use your grocery tote to deliver your holiday cheer, make sure to wash your tote in the washing machine or by hand with hot, soapy water before and after use and avoid leaving your totes in the trunk of your car. Clean all areas where you place your totes, such as kitchen counter or tables.
