Tip of the Day
A "Garden" of Antioxidants
Antioxidants can be a confusing concept, and many Americans wonder where antioxidants come from. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and nuts is the best approach to getting the antioxidants you need.
Fruits and vegetables are still the best sources of carotenoids and vitamin C, as well as other phytonutrients that may help protect against some health problems like cancers and heart disease.
Many foods are fortified with antioxidant vitamins C, E and beta carotene. While they may not supply enough antioxidant vitamins for their possible protective benefits, they're often good sources.
