Paint Your Fall Plate Orange

The beautiful colors of fall range from deep red to dark brown, but the color that most symbolizes fall and its bounty is orange. When gathering for Halloween parties or fall festivals, decorate your "tablescape" with nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables in this perfect fall hue.

Orange and deep yellow fruits include apricot, cantaloupe, grapefruit, mango, papaya, peach and  pineapple. Orange and deep yellow vegetables include carrots, yellow pepper, yellow corn and sweet potato.

Phytonutrients like flavonoids and antioxidants in these foods promote a healthy heart, vision, immunity and may reduce the risk for some cancers. The deeper the orange/yellow color, the more carotenoids they have.
