Easy Ways to Stay Slim in the Summer
Warm weather is the perfect time to engage in physical activity and focus on weight loss. The extended daylight hours may boost the desire to get outside, but be leery of summertime treats that can sabotage your healthy eating plan. Trying to stick to a healthy eating plan this summer? Follow these tips:
- Coffee Shop
Enjoy your favorite frozen coffee drink with care and order it with low-fat or fat-free milk and skip the whipped cream.
Gatherings with family and friends can turn into a buffet of food. Survey the scene and choose your favorite dishes or small portions of what you would like to try. Fill at least half of your plate with veggies and fruits. Grill lean meat, chicken or try fish.
Potato salad, pasta salad and coleslaw are known for their high-calorie content. Lighten up your salad by subbing half of the mayonnaise for Greek yogurt, mustard or low-fat mayonnaise.
- Farmers Market
Take advantage of your local produce. Fruits and vegetables are low in calories and high in fiber and nutrients.
- Get Active
Commit to 30 to 60 minutes of physical activity a day to burn calories.
