One...Two...Three...Smile!

This week is National Smile Week, a perfect reminder that healthy teeth and bones start with plenty of calcium and lots of physical activity. Try these calcium boosters:

  • Drink an 8-ounce glass of milk with your meal. Fat-free and low-fat milk have the same amount of calcium as whole milk.
  • Add a handful of shredded low-fat or fat-free cheese to salads, soups and other dishes.
  • Eat one cup of low-fat or fat-free yogurt with fruit for breakfast or a snack.
  • Melt low-fat or fat-free cheese on a whole-grain bagel, tortilla or English muffin.

In addition to making sure you get enough calcium, help strengthen bones by engaging in regular physical activity. Get outside this summer with friends and family. Go for a walk or run, or even go dancing. Getting active and choosing healthier food options is the start of a healthy lifestyle that will give you something to smile about.
