Tip of the Day
Pick a Color, Any Color
Red, orange, yellow, green, purple… tomatoes come in a vast array of colors, and each variety has its own distinct taste. Tomatoes are an excellent source of vitamins A and C. You don't have to feel bad about indulging in tomatoes either; they are only 32 calories per cup!
Love marinara sauce? You're on the right track for healthy eating. Tomato-based sauces typically have fewer calories and fat than a creamy white sauce or pesto sauce. If you're headed out to eat, look for dishes with marinara or other tomato-based sauces in place of alfredo or carbonara dishes.
Tomato season is at its peak right now, making it the perfect time to get creative with tomatoes. Try making your own tomato sauce at home with lesser known varieties like Black Prince, Green Zebra or White Queen. Check your local farmer's market for different options.
