Tip of the Day
Smart Grilling for the Fourth
Plan on celebrating the Fourth of July with a barbecue for family and friends? You're on the right track! Grilling can be a great way to spend time outdoors with loved ones while eating right.
Not sure how to cut back on sodium, fats or added sugars?
Use little or no salt or salt-based seasonings. Instead, make a rub with your favorite herbs and spices.
Trim fat from meat and remove poultry skin before cooking. Try replacing full-fat side dishes like potato salad with grilled fruits and vegetables. Watermelon, avocados and summer squash make tasty, grilled treats.
- Added Sugars
Offer guests unsweetened beverages like water, iced tea, low-fat or fat-free milk or 100 percent fruit juices.
