Tip of the Day
Smart Grilling for the Fourth
Plan on celebrating the Fourth of July with a barbecue for family and friends? You're on the right track! Grilling can be a great way to spend time outdoors with loved ones while eating right.
Not sure how to cut back on sodium, fats or added sugars?
- Sodium
Use little or no salt or salt-based seasonings. Instead, make a rub with your favorite herbs and spices. - Fats
Trim fat from meat and remove poultry skin before cooking. Try replacing full-fat side dishes like potato salad with grilled fruits and vegetables. Watermelon, avocados and summer squash make tasty, grilled treats. - Added Sugars
Offer guests unsweetened beverages like water, iced tea, low-fat or fat-free milk or 100 percent fruit juices.
