Equip Your Kitchen for Healthful Cooking

We lead busy lives and don't always have extra time to spend in the kitchen cooking healthful meals. The good news is there are tools to help you cook healthy and safe meals while saving some time in the kitchen.

  • Cheese Grater
With a grater, a little cheese goes a long way. A small portion of cheese adds plenty of flavor and graters can be used for shredding vegetables like carrots and squash or for grating citrus rinds for flavor.
  • Fat-Separating Pitcher
With the position of the spout, a fat-separating pitcher lets you pour out the liquid from the bottom, leaving the fat behind.
  • Food Processor or Blender
You can chop, grate or puree vegetables for use in soups, sauces, salads or side dishes or puree fruit, yogurt and milk for a low-calorie milk shake.
  • Hot-Air Popcorn Popper
This popper requires no oil, so popcorn can be a quick, low-fat and low-calorie snack.
  • Food Thermometer
Helps you cook food to a safe internal temperature.
  • Nonstick Pots and Pans
Some cookware is especially coated, allowing you to cook with little or no added fat.
  • Ribbed Frypan
The ribs on the bottom surface let meat or poultry cook above the fat drippings so less fat gets absorbed.
