Tip of the Day
Reduce Your Risk of Cancer Today
Each year, 7.6 million people worldwide die from cancer. Research suggests that one-third of all cancer deaths can be avoided through prevention, and another third through early detection and treatment. April is Cancer Control Month, a time to focus on what you can do to reduce your cancer risk.
Some risk factors you can control are: use of tobacco; your weight; physical activity level; what foods you eat; and exposure to sunlight.
Taking small steps may be enough to significantly reduce your cancer risk. Consult a registered dietitian in your area and visit the Cancers page for more information on diet and cancer prevention.
