Nutrition Q & A
If the Label Says Natural, Does that Mean the Food is Healthy?
Not necessarily. According to the Food and Drug Administration, which regulates claims on food labels, "natural" can be used on products that do not contain added color, artificial flavors or artificial ingredients. However, products labeled "natural" are not always organic or low in salt or sugar, and may not have any other special nutritional qualities. Read the Nutrition Facts panel to help you select foods that meet your individual needs.
