How Can I Dry Herbs from My Garden?

Drying herbs from your garden is an easy way to preserve them for the cold winter months.

To dry them in your microwave oven: Wash herbs and remove leaves from stems. Place herbs between paper towels. Dry them on the lowest setting for two to three minutes. Cool and store in tightly covered containers.

To dry herbs in an oven: Wash leaves and blot dry. Place herbs on baking trays in a single layer. Heat them in the oven at 100 degrees Fahrenheit for several hours with the door slightly open. Remove herbs before they get browned. Cool, then store in tightly covered containers.
