What is the Morning Banana Diet?

The Morning Banana Diet which first gained popularity in Japan has now spread around the world. The basic rules of the diet are simple:

  • Eat a banana for breakfast. (Other fruit is also acceptable.)
  • Eat a normal lunch and dinner. Eat slowly until you feel full. Do not eat dessert.
  • Drink only room-temperature water with meals.
  • Snacks are allowed but no eating after 8 p.m.

There's no magic ingredient in the Banana Diet that results in weight loss. The truth is that people can lose weight on a fad diet when calories are limited. However, it's almost always followed by regain of the weight lost.
