What Is the Best Time To Buy Berries?
Thanks to improved transportation, greenhouses and imports, most of us can find berries in our local grocery store year round. But if you are looking to buy in-season fresh berries, you should start seeing fruit in mid-May. Depending on the variety of berry you are looking for, here is the general rule of thumb for in-season berries:
- Strawberries: mid-May through June
- Raspberries: early June through mid-July
- Blueberries: July through early August
- Blackberries: August
You can also check out the local farmer’s market for berries.
