Nutrition Q & A
I Ate One-half of a Frozen Pizza. How Do I Calculate the Calories for this Size Portion?
The information on the food label can help you calculate the total number of calories consumed. The first step is to look at the serving size on the box: how many servings are there in the whole pizza?
Multiply the calories per serving by the number of servings on the box. This is the total calories for the entire pizza.
Now divide this number by two, since you ate half of the pizza. This is how many calories were in the pizza you ate.
Example
| Servings in the box = 3 | | Calories per serving = 324 |
| 3 x 324 = 972 calories in the whole pizza |
| 972 ÷ by 2 = 486 calories in ½ pizza |
