Nutrition Q & A

What is the Safest Way to Pack my Lunch so the Food Stays Fresh?

Keeping food cold is the most important way to keep your packed lunch fresh and safe to eat. If possible, food should be stored in a refrigerator until lunchtime. If refrigerator space is not available, be sure to use freezer gel packs or frozen juice boxes, which will keep food cold until lunchtime. An insulated soft-sided lunch tote will help to keep food cold.

If perishable items, such as eggs, meat and fresh cut vegetables are not eaten at lunch, they should be thrown away.
