Tip of the Day
A Thanksgiving to Remember
Thanksgiving can be one of the greatest holidays of the year. It is one day set aside for giving thanks for what we have. It’s no secret, though, that the main focus of Thanksgiving is the big meal.
Indulging in Thanksgiving favorites is okay, but take time to get out and enjoy physical activity with your family and stave off a few extra holiday pounds. This Thanksgiving, weather permitting, try some of these outdoor activities:
- Get ready for the big games with your own game of touch football.
- Have a gourd hunt, patterned after an Easter egg hunt. Hide small gourds or pumpkins around the yard; whoever finds the most gets the first serving of turkey.
- Make a scarecrow. Stuff an old shirt and overalls with leaves and top it with a pumpkin head.
Traditions are a part of Thanksgiving. Make physical activity your family's newest tradition. Outdoor family activities are a great way to make memories that will last a lifetime.
