Would you like to join the growing group of Academy members who have been able to develop and hone their public policy skills through the Academy's prestigious Public Policy Workshop? Here are six steps to help you discuss and obtain professional and financial support from your employer for this excellent opportunity to broaden your skills.
Request and schedule a meeting with your supervisor or director to discuss your interest in attending the 2013 Public Policy Workshop. Prepare for the meeting by defining your policy related competencies and skills needed in your current position.
During the meeting, describe the importance of enhancing your policy competencies and how participation in the program will strengthen your performance in your organization. Refer to the Program Preview for additional information.
Send a thank you note to your employer for their consideration and support.
